As a high-power version of the digital power supply, the appearance of the MDP-P906 is almost the same as that of the previous version, MDP-P905. It has four "corgi-style short legs" that make it slightly "higher" by 7mm. This small height difference allows a silent high-speed cooling fan to be accommodated inside the device. Users who have used our products know that MINIWARE mini smart tools have strict quality control standards for hardware. The matching error and processing requirements of each component are almost at the level of handicrafts rather than tools. We also have very high requirements -- each new product has intelligent functions that previous products did not have, and upgradeable firmware optimization is the basic configuration of each product, "wrong operation leads to safety" is the basic requirement for products. Of course, MDP-P906 Mini Digital Power Supply also has new functions that the previous product did not have.
As digital power module of MDP Mini Digital Power System, both MDP-P905 and MDP-P906 have intelligent functions for external load devices, including: overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and backflow protection. These functions will detect the voltage and current of the power supply and load equipment in real time. When the instantaneous power exceeds the set value of the equipment, an alarm will be issued or the output will be cut off directly to protect the external equipment and ensure that the external equipment will not be burned. The power supply itself has reverse polarity protection and over-temperature protection functions to prevent itself from being damaged.
On the basis of the above functions, MDP-P906 has added adaptive input current limiting and boost mode. Let me introduce these two new features to you. Adaptive input current limiting is a safety protection measure for power source. Its function is that MDP-P906 will automatically limit the input current to the maximum allowable value to avoid input power overload. For the power source with protocols (such as QC, PD and other power supply protocol plugs, power bank, etc.), MDP-P906 will automatically obtain the input according to the maximum agreed current of the power source, and then output to the load. For example, if the protocol power source is a PD power bank with a maximum output current of 1A, and the load requires a current of 2A, MDP-P906 will automatically obtain a maximum input current of 1A from the power bank, even if the load power is greater than the input power, or connect multiple loads, MDP-P906 can guarantee uninterrupted power supply, and continuously provide the load with power that does not exceed the power bank, which greatly increases the adaptability. For the power source without protocols, user can set the input current value through the "Input Current" menu. At this time, if the current value exceeds the current that the power source without protocol can withstand, MDP-P906 will disconnect the input to prevent excessive power demand wears down the power source.
While in other words, the boost mode is "unlimited current mode", that is, when the output current is set to 10A and still cannot meet the load requirements, MDP-P906 can set unlimited current for a short time, and output a current exceeding 10A to meet the load requirements. When it is set to boost mode, obvious sparks can be seen when the load is short-circuited. It is necessary to avoid long-term short-circuit and cause MDP-P906 to overheat which may turn on the over-temperature protection (when the over-temperature protection is activated, the digital power supply will automatically shut down and turn off the output).
